how do i convince my parents to let me be scene???!!

ughhh how do i convince my parents to let me be scene???!! im 15 and growing up in a strict christain home.. all my 'rentals do is gripe about how i want to dress is "strange and thats why i dont have a boyfriend cause they think i look weird" they wont let me get my hair done how i want either cause it ruins your hair... they told me my makeup was too dark and looked "sadistic" and that our family isnt about that and they even threw out my best eyeliners..they just dont understand that this is what i feel comfortable dressing like and how i feel most comfortable in my skin?

  1. I grew up in a strict family like that too. I told my mom that the way i dressed and shit was how i expressed myself... she didnt like that much, but i did what i did. I got peircing and dye my hair, also my mom didnt like that either. Just be real with them. And remember, GOD doesnt judge. Hope i was kinda helpful..

  2. My mom thinks "scene" means "bisexual"; the other scene kids at my school don't even accept me because I am "too Christian"! The other kids don't matter, and just act with the usual respect for your parents(they'll calm down once they see your attitude hasn't changed). Everything will figure itself out soon enough.

  3. Try compromising with your parents. That's what I did with my Dad. Instead of dying your hair, try exstensions. Do lighter makeup. But as far as a piercing goes... that one might have to wait until you're out of the house. BUT ABOVE ALL - keep respecting and honoring your parents. They'll see that you still listen to them even though you don't agree with them all the time. And just MAYBE they'll let you have a little leeway. ;) Good luck :D

  10. Yeah. I know how you feel. Heck, Im not even allowed to have a boyfriend! They call all my hair ideas demonic, satanic, and gothic. They dont even know what I like. Im not a labeler/dont believe in labels, but the hair i want is scene-ish. they said no, and i totally FLIPPED. i regret it because they took away my phone. hang in there. dont dress to dark. i told my rents i need more clothes, and im going to talk to them 2nite. yeah. wish me luck.<3

  11. I have the same problem! my mom wont let me listen to any of the music that I want to and she wont let me dye my hair or wear it like I want it cuz she thinks its "demonic and satanic" according to her, if I keep wearing my hair and dressing the way I do then im gunna do drugs by the time im 16 and be pregnant by 17.... makes so much sense right?

  12. I feel you.... I don't have a really religious family or anything but I showed my dad the pics of 'scene' hair and he said no because in all the pic they look like they are gonna get hooked on drugs. Still gonna try though! Wish you luck!

  13. I actually don't have any rules at my house of how i am suppose to look and all I asked about was a streak in my hair and my mom said yes but I didn't ask about getting scene hair so instead I am having my friend get me some extensions to make my hair scene-ish and keeping my natural hair color. I am possibly getting neon hair extensions too after that. I never asked about make up yet but they might say yes because my mom wore make up at my age. So in your case ask for hair extensions and new clothes including skinny jeans, cartoon tees, band tees, bows, huge necklaces, Converse, Slip-on Vans, Airwalk, tutus, flats, and for the shoes get at least two of each. :) Hope this helped. Make sure to take your time so you aren't a poser.

  14. My case is pathetic. I'm 19, and still my parents won't let me dress how I feel most comfortable with. I come from a good family and they just want me to wear expensive colourful clothes. Converse? Satanic. Skinny jeans? Satanic as well. Wrist bands and black / band t-shirts? Oh, satanic too! They just relate that stuff with being 'low class' or some shit and it's so frustrating. I'm over 18 now so I should be able to be whatever I want but geez... also they claim that my girlfriend is a goth and 'she's changing me'. Gimme a break plz

    1. i know exactly what you mean, i'm 20 and i always have to watch out how i dress infront of my parents. they wont let me wear shorts or skirts even if it's hot outside, make up is taboo even if it's just eyeliner... i'm not even dressed up slutty or anything, they simply "don't like" my style... i come from a very religious family, i always had a certain liberty of doing what i want to a certain extend but everything clothes/make-up/hair related was always difficult
oh and coloring my hair is just simply impossible, i'm debating now since weeks and it's helpless...

    2. I perfectly understand your situation. A few days ago I dyed my hair blue (just my fringe) and I had to was it off... I took some cool pictures and they almost killed me and wouldn't let me use them in public as I was doing the \m/ sign and that was 'low class'. If they really mean it when they say 'we just want you to be happy' then why do they have to choose my clothes and hobbies? It's outrageous...

    3. wash* and btw I'm the same guy who wrote this... the situation hasn't changed at all. And keep in mind that I told my parents that I was dying my hair before I did it...

    4. My parents aren't religious at all but my family on my dad's side is heavily Christian and I was looking at some black t-shirts online, I showed my mom and she said "You wanna look all tough", she continued "How is it possible that not a single one of my daughters is girly?" My parents think I'll end up doing drugs and pregnant. I listen to heavy metal, metalcore, hard rock and screamo.

  15. I come from a religious family too. I asked my mom a lot and she keeps saying no and I talked to my sister and she tells me how to get it cut. A easy way is when you go to get your haircut YOU show them a picture of what you want with out your mom or dad knowing and so its already done and they cant do anything. Find someone that will do stuff to your hair, I guess someone like a sister.

  16. I have the same exact problem. I had really long hair for a long time and I faked a fringe for a while. My mom let me get away with it for about 1 moth and then told me I look like fucking Donald trump. My dad wouldn't care as miuch, but since my mom doesn't like it, I can't dress emo/scene. I'm not even allowed to shop at Hot Topic anymore because my mom doesn't like the sore. She thinks it's evil and shit. It's not. I've tried explaining to her that I only want Batman and band tees but nope. I have a bob now but I can still style it emo if I want, but it's not gonna happen. My mom also stole my black eyeliner so I can't use it anymore. I'm not allowed to have black jeans, and I can't paint my finger nails black. My family and I are Christian, so they think it's an evil style. But it's not. It's just a style; not a commitment to Satan
